This activity is ideal for anyone that wants to head out wild camping in the mountains anywhere in the world but would like some expert instruction before they go. It could be that you are planning a back packing trip in the Scottish Highlands or equally planning to walk the GR20 in Corsica with all you need on your back. Scrambling
Scrambling is a combination of single pitch Rock-climbing and Fell Walking. It involves ongoing small climbs up a steep ascent and although it is not clinging on to sheer rock faces with just your fingertips, you are roped up with a harness & helmet for safety. The beauty of this adventure is that it allows you access to areas beyond the casual hill-walker’s reach. Up there among truly impressive scenery, your journey will take you up 1000ft to a stunning view across the Lakeland fells and a real sense of achievement.

Climbing – Single & Multi Pitch
Outdoor climbing activities take place on rock (slate, granite and limestone). We usually climb in the North Wales, The Peak District or the Lakes areas doing single pitch (one ropes length max) sessions. We specialise in outdoor climbing activities appropriate for beginner and introductory sessions. Other sessions are available by request as we choose the appropriate crag depending on ability and experience in the group.

Our basic ½ day session is for those who would like to try Climbing. It is an introductory session that will include a few single pitches (not more than one rope’s length). This can easily become a full-day and could include some bouldering as well as a progression in difficulty throughout the day. A full day session is most likely to take place in the at a suitable venue in North Wales or the Lake District. If you have already done some climbing and would like to take it further, we can arrange multi-pitch climbing or climbing instruction on higher grades with specialist providers.

Abseiling
Abseiling involves lowering down a rock face with the ropes set up so that you are in control of your own descent. An abseil is a challenge for all ages that is also an unusual, exciting experience you won’t forget.

Abseiling is an adrenaline packed activity that really does make you feel a rush of excitement. Lowering yourself down a sheer rock face is something most people would naturally and instantly turn away from but with our specialist equipment and supportive and encouraging instructors, everybody goes away with a huge sense of achievement, buzzing and wanting to do it all over again!

Gorge Walking
Explore the very heart of Wales with an exciting Gorge Walk with Mountain Water Expeditions

Ever wanted to put your walking skills to the test? Fancy an adventure day out with a difference?

The journey will start at the bottom of a narrow valley between mountains. We will work our way up the gorge meeting a number of different challenges on our route, from scrambling to plunge pools to waterfalls.

Exploring the gorge is a great adventure; pushing comfort zones, developing skills, exploring the wonderful Welsh wilderness and discovering fascinating geological features of these beautiful landscapes.

Sea-level Traversing
Discover the coast from a totally new perspective; this tremendously exciting activity gives groups the chance to explore the craggy headlands and bays of Anglesey, traversing sideways along the rocky shores and cliffs. Participants will learn about climbing and scrambling skills as they go along, they will probably have to use ropes at some stage and may even use tyrolean traverses or other rope systems to bypass difficulties. There may even be an opportunity at times to appreciate the ruggedness of the coastal landscape and perhaps look at how some plants and animals have adapted to live in this turbulent and harsh environment.

This is an activity that can be enjoyed in all kinds of conditions, whether warm or cold, raining or dry; kitted out as you will be with waterproofs, helmets and buoyancy aids; sometimes using wetsuits to keep warm. The more adventurous will certainly enjoy the chance to get soaked, perhaps there may be an opportunity to jump into some deep water. It is a fantastic adventurous activity in a dynamic changing environment which truly emphasises the need for effective group cooperation and teamwork. A peak educational experience is often possible, leading to a memorable sense of achievement.

We have access to many varied venues along the coastline of Anglesey, allowing Conway Centres: Anglesey teaching staff to match a suitable venue to the age and ability of the group.
