Duke of Edinburgh Award Gold Residential
The DofE Residential is unique to the Gold section of the DofE Award. For the Residential section you need to undertake a shared activity or specific course with people you don’t know, in a residential setting away from home and in an unfamiliar environment. The residential brings many exciting possibilities to enable you to complete your Gold DofE Award.
There are no restrictions regarding the type of activity you can do for a Gold Residential. Here at MWE we offer two different canoe Gold Award residential experiences. Both involve journeys across the Great Glen in Scotland. These Gold residential’s offer an opportunity to spend time learning or developing your paddle skills, bush craft skills, communication and interpersonal skills. These Gold residentials are a great way to fulfil the requirement of staying away from home for five consecutive days with people you do not usually spend time with. Not to mention they are a Gold DofE residential opportunity that provides you with an enjoyable social and outdoor adventure experience.
Each day we travel by either sea kayak or open canoe along the loch’s and canals on the Great Glen, breaking each evening to work together to set up camp and learn new campcraft and bushcraft skills. Including fire lighting and cooking. You can be an experienced paddler or a novice, these Gold DofE residentials cater for all levels. You may even get to spot a Nessie!
As an approved activity provider for the Duke of Edinburgh Award you can be assured of an enjoyable, safe experience that fully meets all the requirements of the Gold DofE residential as set out in the Award Handbook, with a follow up individual report for your e-DofE Log
