British Canoeing – Sea Kayak Leader Training
This course delivers the personal skill level and leadership ability required to lead a group of paddlers, on short, single or multi-day journeys in a moderate tidal water environment with winds not exceeding Beaufort Force 4.
Training Course Contents
The Sea Kayak Leader Training course will cover the following
Personal Paddling Skills
Rescue Skills
Safety, Leadership & Group Skills
Theory
The course content is delivered over two days formal training.
Mountain Water Expeditions can offer a three day version of the Sea kayak Leaders training course, which will include the Coastal Navigation and Tidal Planning course.
British Canoeing Coastal Sea Kayak Award or 3 Star Sea Kayak standard is the appropriate level of performance for paddlers to begin working towards the Sea Kayak Leader.
Once training has been completed candidates have up to three years to complete the assessment prerequisites and progress to assessment. If more time is required extension requests will be considered on a case by case basis.
