Mountain Water Expeditions Activities White Water Award

British Canoeing – White Water Award
British Canoeing – Personal Performance Awards

The White Water Awards are aimed at paddlers looking to develop their skills for a safe day out on rivers.

These awards can be taken in a variety of craft, including white water kayaks, OC1s and sit on tops, depending on your skill level and the environment.

There are no prerequisites or age restrictions so start your next award today! The new Personal Performance Awards are designed for paddlers wanting to gain recognition of their learning and development, in the craft and environment they choose. These awards allow paddlers to improve their skills, working towards the award of their choice, developing their decision making and fundamental skills.

There are no dual discipline awards and all of the awards are direct entry, giving the paddler choice.

Our White Water Award endorses your skill, judgment and decision making to ensure a successful day on rivers up to grade 2.

You will leave us confident in planning and undertaking journeys on moving water with proficient skills to be in control throughout.

Your award will be seen as a sound basis for building the experience and knowledge associated with Progressive White Water Award holders.

White water kayaking is at its core about our ability to put the boat in the exact place we want it, whatever the conditions. When possible we use the river to help us, however sometimes that isn’t possible. Either way, if you can control the boat on easy water the process is the same in more advanced conditions.

At Mountain Water Expeditions we pride ourselves on our technical understanding of the discipline. We will teach you the most up to date techniques that will allow you to progress without any barriers.

You can attend our White Water Kayak courses as a training or assessment or perhaps both.  It is two days of coaching in the skills needed for white water paddling on grade 2 rivers and has the opportunity to achieve the award. All candidates leave the course with a very clear, precise and personalised action plan: safe in the knowledge that they have a range of techniques that are effective and safe.
