It is with great delight that we would like to announce that Ray Goodwin our ‘technical expert’ here at Mountain Water Expeditions has been awarded the title of Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, MBE for short.
Ray has always been at the forefront of safety here at Mountain Water Expeditions having regular input into the safe running of our ever-popular Duke of Edinburgh Award training and assessment expeditions at Bronze, Silver and Gold level as well as our Gold level outdoor residentials experiences for young people taking part in the award.

– Author of the highly acclaimed book, ‘Canoeing’
Ray Goodwin acts as our ‘technical expert’ under the Adventure Activities Licensing Regulations 1996 [see our profile here] and advises Mountain Water Expeditions on safety and good practice in the outdoors. Ray is at the top of his game here in the UK holding a Mountaineering Instructors Certificate and British Canoe Union Coach 5 in Inland Kayak, Sea Kayak and Canoe (He was the first to be assessed in all three) and is also a BCU Coach Educator able to deliver Coach 1 to 3. Ray’s practice is based on a depth and breadth of experience. He has climbed and paddled on four continents and completed the first complete circumnavigation of Wales and the first unsupported crossing of the Irish Sea in canoe.
Ray is not only our technical expert he is also a great friend and mentor. Ray works regularly alongside Alan delivering British Canoeing, canoe leader assessment courses and British Canoeing white water safety and rescue courses.
